açtım fonda coldplay çalıyor, şarkıları bana hep ingiltere'yi hatırlatıyor.. ben de sakin sakin tamamen içimden geldiği gibi karalıyorum oxford hakkında bir şeyler.. benimkisi, bir dil okulu öğrencisinin gözünden -benim gözümden- oxford.

bugün itibariyle tam 3 sene olmuş oxford'a gideli! ve benim için çok özel olan bu şehirde tam tamına 5 ay geçirmişim. okuduğum ve fotoğraflardan gördüğüm kadarıyla, oxford'u ben daha gitmeden sevmeye başlamıştım.. yaşayınca daha da sevdim! beni yakından tanıyanlar bilir, hep söylerim "metropol insanı değilim" diye, oxford'a ısınmamın sebeplerinden biri buydu belki de; küçük, sıcak, yer yer snob ama samimi ve seni yabancı hissettirmeyen..

i has been literally 3 years since i went there! and i spent 5 months in that city which is highly important to me. i've actually loved oxford before i went there from the photos, travel notes and all the information that i'd got.. but for the first time when i saw oxford, i even love it more! always saying that "i'm not a big city person", maybe that's why i love the city that much; little, warm, snobbish but intimate and doesn't make you feel a stranger..

çok fazla yapılacak şey yok aslında burada, hemen yarım günde falan keşfedilebilecek minicik bir merkezi var. ancak, şehrin öne çıkan özelliklerinden biri de tarihi dokusu ile ünlü ve şehre de ismini veren "oxford üniversitesi" ve hemen hemen şehrin tümüne yayılmış olan kolejleri. yanlış hatırlamıyorsam tam 38 adet farklı koleji mevcut üniversitenin. e tabi hayal edin şehirdeki öğrenci ve akademisyen popülasyonunu ve dolayısıyla da şehrin aristokrat duruşunu!

there is not much things to do in the city.. i doesn't even take 1 day to explore all the city center. however, there is the famous and historical "oxford university" and the city was named after it. also its colleges spread to all around the city.. as far as i remember there are 38 different colleges of the university. and imagine the population of students and profesors and the sophisticated air in the city!

bir de cambridge kadar olmasa da bisikletler şehri burası. işe/okula bisikleti ile giden birçok kişiye rastlarsınız sokaklarda..

maybe not as much as cambridge but there are lots of bicycles. you can see on the streets people ride their bicycles everyday as a transport on the way home/school/work etc..
o aristokrat havası ve aksanıyla konuşan ingilizler dışında, gerek üniversite gerekse dil okullarındaki yabancı öğrenciler ile hintliler çoğunluk ve başta olmak üzere çeşitli ülkelerden gelmiş ve artık oraya yerleşmiş yabancılar nedeniyle artık kozmopolit bir yapıya sahip olduğundan kendinizi yabancı hissetmiyorsunuz bir şekilde. aslında ingiltere, oldukça kuralcı bir ülke, sınırları keskin.. ancak, kurallara ayak uydurmakta zorlanan ben dahi alışmıştım orada çünkü sistem böyle işlemekte; zamanla alışıyorsunuz ve dahası seviyorsunuz:)

rather than city's noble blood and snobbish british accent, either the university or the language schools host plenty of foreign students which give to the city a cosmopolitan view and you somehow don't feel as a stranger. actually, the uk is a normative country with very sharp borders.. even though i hate to be in a shape, i had to obey their rules cause it's the system.. nevertheless, after a while you get used to live with it. morover, you kinda love it:)

gel gelelim benim oxford'uma:) şehir merkezinde bir nevi oxford'un kapalı çarşısı diye adlandırabileceğimiz ünlü ve tarihi "covered market" var. içerisinde çiçekçisinden pastanesine, şapkacıdan ayakkabıcıya, kasaba aklınıza gelecek her türlü küçük işletmelere sahip. ancak iki tanesi var ki çok özeldir benim için.. olur da bir gün oxford'a giderseniz ben's cookies'in bugüne kadar yediğiniz kurabiyelerden çok farklı ve süper lezzetli kurabiyelerini ve moo-moo's'un farklı ve geniş seçenekleriyle sunduğu milkshake'lerini denemeden dönmeyin kesinlikle. o kadar söylüyorum! özellikle ben's cookies'de biraz sırada bekleyeceksiniz belki ama beklediğinize değecek..

now it's time for my oxford:) there is a historical market in a covered structure called "covered market". there are different kind of permanent stalls like patisserie, hat store, shoe store, butcher etc. however, there are 2 of them that my favorites! first one is called "ben's cookies", i've eaten the best cookies there, ever!!! the second one is "moo moo's" they make delicious milkshakes with all kind of flavors! if you go oxford some day you gotta visit them!

aand o'neills! we used to go there almost every friday to have lunch and eat irish bacon burger!:) some days we spoiled ourselves and ordered chocolate fudge cake with coffee after the meal... we also used to hang out there in the evenings and sometimes with live music.. was not my favorite drink but it is an irish pub soo yes, there was guinness! we love o'neills ♥ o'neills is located on "george street" and there were plenty of pubs&restaurants on the street and around. celebrity jamie oliver's restaurant "jamie's italian" was one of them. as far as i remember copa, red lion, ask, bella italia were just some of them that we used to go..  |

aslında başlayınca durmak bilmeden yazmak istedim. ve yazdıkça da aklıma geldi bir bir mekanlar, anılar, kişiler.. daha fazla uzatmamak adına kesiyorum burada zira üzerinden onca zaman geçince fotoğraf bulmakta epey zorlandım. bir de turist olarak gitmek ve yaşamak farklıymış, bitince baştan okudum da benimkisi biraz oxford'lu gibi bazen de bir turist gözüyle anlatmak olmuş. tamamlamak adına belki daha sonra ikinci bir oxford yazısı daha eklerim, şimdilik bu kadar. oxford'da tanıdığım tüm dostlarıma gelsin bu yazı...
